Here at the Bar King the only thing that excites us more than puppies is women hunters! Rebecca is the bird dog crazy in the family and she has spent several years as a guide here in AZ and learning from a few different fantastic trainers. She will be training her up and coming pudelpointers this summer and getting them NAVHDA NA'd and getting everyone on wild birds this season. She will also be attending several training seminars and clinics as well as camps this fall. Even some ladies only camps! She cannot pass up this opportunity to learn from some world renowned trainers and their methods. Due to this she will not be taking in any dogs for training, however is almost always up for working pups with others if they would like to meet up for a BYOB (bring your own birds) training day. She will also not be guiding this upcoming season to concentrate on her own dogs.
Over the last several years Rebecca has deepened her love for hunting through a passion for seeing other women hunters out in the field. Maybe its her background as a firefighter that makes her love seeing women in a mostly male field, or its simply the luxury of having a hunting partner that doesn't fart all night long. Whatever the case may be, finding other women hunters, but especially upland hunters and connecting them has become a fun little side project! With the help of the other "Hens' Rebecca and a few other SoAZ upland hunting women started a small social club. Meeting regularly for "mostly" ladies only (kids and likeminded always welcome) for everything from self paced group training to meet ups with and without dogs for urban treasure hunts for the best food out there. As the group expands we would like to include most outdoor activities, but concentrating on promoting women in the field. Rebecca has also started working closely with HerUpland a 501c3 who's goals are to mentor, support, encourage, and teach Women and Girls who want to learn about hunting birds, training dogs, and how to protect and care for the lands we have.
