We at the Bar King are avid upland bird hunters! This ranch was founded greatly in part to keep us close to quail country for easier access to hunts.  Our logo is our first Pudelpointer Johnny Utah. Not our first bird dog by far, but one of our reasons for being in the area for sure. Once Utah came into our lives we were hooked and started working closely with our breeder eventually partnering with them, Dezert Rebelz Pudelpointers, to continue these amazing bloodlines. The Bar King is now permanently home to 6 pudelpointers. All working dogs or dogs in training, we do not sit still with them and they're always on the go. Utah was with another local guide as a guide dog for the last 3 seasons (he is already spoken for, for this upcoming season). We are just starting two puppies (not related in any way) and seasoning 3 young dogs this year. 

With that all in mind, we specialize in bird dog boarding and can offer several additional options on top of typical boarding. 

*We can handle bitches in heat. We are responsible, ethical breeders that advocate for dogs to remain intact until age appropriate. We at the Bar King welcome all levels of the cycle and house appropriately to insure no negligent litters can happen. All bitches in season are behind two barriers from the males at all times. We do only take "bird dogs' in season, not non bird dogs in heat.*

Exercise: we can road your dogs via quad, in a safe controlled manor before the heat of the day sets in.  We also try to find water weekly for swimming. 

Bird dog rehab:  Bird dogs get hurt. Many of us don't have the ability to devote 24/7 care to our dogs when they get sick or injured. On a case by case basis, we may be able to help. We can work closely with your veterinarian,  and provide the care and attention needed to get your bird dog back in the field. *we have no formal canine medical training beyond being instructors for canine first aid. We are both human medics however and have had more than our fair share of rehab cases come across our desk. We have the time and ability due to being able to work from home to provide a service we feel many bird dog owners would utilize if needed.*

Hunting Season Bird Dog Care: Here from out of state and want to go spend the day exploring AZ without your dogs? Brought a few dogs that need a day of rest? Let them come hang out at the Bark King for the day! Have a puppy that just isn't ready to tag along in the field yet? Bird dog day care, but no dogs will be mixed together like normal day care!

Bird Work: This is not bird dog training. If your bird dog is staying with us for bird dog boarding and you'd like your dog worked on a few birds, we can do that. No formal training will take place. This is simply getting your dog on a few birds while we are working ours as well.
